Fotto's core revenue is subscriptions, not a cut of your sales. The Free plan is the exception: it carries a 15% platform fee so you can start with no card. Paid plans carry a much lower platform fee, and until 7 Sep 2026, that fee is temporarily 0% on every paid plan, as a launch promo.
A separate 2.5% payment-processing fee (minimum RM1) applies to your total in each order, on every plan, including during the promo. It is charged once per order, not per photo: a buyer taking 5 of your photos in one order pays one processing fee on the sum. That one never goes to zero; it is the real cost of taking a card, FPX or e-wallet payment, so it always applies.
The plans
- Free: RM0. 1 active event at a time, 5 GB storage (roughly 1,000 photos in total). 15% platform fee on sales, plus the 2.5% processing fee.
- Starter: RM49/month (RM490/year). 3 active events, 50 GB storage (roughly 10,000 photos in total). 12% platform fee after the launch promo (0% until 7 Sep 2026).
- Pro: RM99/month (RM990/year). 10 active events, 200 GB storage (roughly 40,000 photos in total). 10% platform fee after the launch promo (0% until 7 Sep 2026).
- Studio: RM149/month (RM1,490/year). Unlimited active events, 500 GB storage (roughly 100,000 photos in total). 8% platform fee after the launch promo (0% until 7 Sep 2026).
Paid plans can be billed annually for the price of ten months, so you get two months free.
Note
At today's typical photo size (around 4.7 MB average per file), the Free plan's 5 GB holds roughly 1,000 photos. Storage is the only limit that binds in normal use: there is no cap on how many photos a single event can hold apart from the 50,000 technical ceiling, and no plan below Studio has enough storage to reach that.
Where the money goes
The platform fee and the processing fee both come off the raw sale price independently; neither is calculated on top of the other.
- Free, any time: a photo sells for RM100. Fotto takes 15% (RM15) platform fee plus 2.5% (RM2.50) processing. You receive RM82.50.
- Starter, Pro or Studio, during the launch promo (until 7 Sep 2026): that same RM100 sale carries 0% platform fee, just the 2.5% (RM2.50) processing fee. You receive RM97.50.
- Starter, after the promo: platform fee is 12%. That RM100 sale nets RM85.50.
- Studio, after the promo: platform fee is 8%, the lowest of any tier. That RM100 sale nets RM89.50.
- Small order, where the RM1 minimum bites: a single RM8 photo on Free. Platform fee 15% (RM1.20); processing 2.5% would be RM0.20, but the RM1 minimum applies, so RM1.00. You receive RM5.80.
Note
If you sell more than about RM327 a month on Free, its 15% fee alone costs more than a Starter subscription (that is the point to upgrade). That comparison holds during the launch promo, when paid plans pay 0%. From 7 Sep 2026, Starter's own 12% fee narrows the gap to 3 percentage points against Free, which pushes the break-even point up to roughly RM1,633 a month. Worth re-checking your numbers around then.
