Your plan has a storage allowance, and the bar on your dashboard shows how much of it your files are using, for example "452.9 GB of 500 GB". When you pass 90% it warns Almost full: delete unsold photos or upgrade. This page explains what counts, and how to get space back.

Archiving a gallery does not free storage. Archiving takes a gallery out of public view and frees an active event slot, but its photos stay on your account, so they keep counting against your allowance. The space only comes back when the files are deleted.
What counts against your plan
Every photo and clip in your marketplace galleries counts, whether its gallery is published, a draft, or archived. Capacity is measured in bytes (the size of the original files), not in photo counts, and a clip counts the same as a photo.
The fast way: clear out an archived gallery
An archived gallery is one you have already taken out of public view. If you are not going to sell its photos again, this is the quickest way to reclaim space.
- Open Galleries and scroll to the bottom. Archived galleries are in a collapsed Archived (N) section. Select it to open the list.
- Open the gallery you want to clear. It looks and behaves like any other gallery.
- Find Delete all unsold photos (N). The number is how many files in that gallery nobody has bought.
- Confirm, then let it run. It works through the gallery in batches and shows how much is left. You can leave the page and come back if you need to.
- Watch your storage bar on the dashboard. It updates as the files are removed.
Heads up
Photos that have been purchased are always kept. Buyers keep access to what they paid for, so the purge only removes files nobody has bought. The run finishes with a count of what was deleted.
The careful way: delete specific photos
If you want to keep some photos and remove others:
- Open the gallery from Galleries.
- Select the photos you want to remove.
- Choose Delete selected (N). You can delete up to 500 at a time; larger selections need more than one pass.
- To remove a single photo, use the delete control on that photo.
Sold photos cannot be selected for deletion. If you try, Fotto will refuse and tell you why.
What happens when a photo is deleted
Deleting removes the original file from storage as well as the photo's preview and thumbnail, so the space is genuinely reclaimed and your storage bar drops. It cannot be undone: there is no bin and no restore. Delete only what you are sure you will not need to sell again, and keep the files on your own drive first if you are unsure.
If you want to keep everything
Upgrading adds space straight away, and your existing galleries and prices are untouched. Open Plan from the dashboard or go to the upgrade page. If you are close to your limit and cannot tell what is using the space, contact support and we will break it down per gallery for you.
